Below are questions frequently asked by our customers. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What should I bring with me to shop for flooring?

In order to make the most out of your visit to our showroom, it’s important to bring as much information about your home as possible. We recommend taking pictures of the room(s) to give the consultant an idea of the layout and feel of your space, that way they can give the best recommendations. Also, bring items to display your color pallet, i.e. paint swatches, fabric swatches, pillows, wall paper, etc. This will make it easier to choose colors. If you’ve seen pictures of a particular room scene that you like, bring that as well. It’s also helpful to bring a room or house drawing with measurements if possible.

Do you install flooring ?

For products purchased through us, we do install. We do not install products purchased elsewhere because we guarantee our installations. We stand behind the performance of the products we sell. We can not guarantee that products purchased elsewhere will perform at the level of our trusted manufacturers.

How do I clean my floors?

We recommend maintaining your floors according to the manufacturers’ guidelines.

I’ve seen commercials for steam mops, and it says you can use it on multiple floor surfaces. Are they recommended?

We do not recommend steam mops. Though steam mop manufacturers recommend use on all floor surfaces, most floor manufacturers specifically say to not use them as it damages the flooring.

Do you clean carpets?

No, we do not professionally clean carpet. We recommend professionally cleaning your carpets every 12-18 months and would be happy to recommend professionals in your area.

My carpet looks loose and wrinkles in some places. Can this be fixed?

Carpet may need to be re-stretched every so often depending on the amount of traffic the area receives. We do provide this service. Give us a call to set up an estimate.

Is there a fee to come to my house and measure?

No, we do not charge for local estimates.

Do your installers work for you or do you use subcontractors?

Our installers are subcontractors, however they primarily work for JK Carpets and have been installing for us for years. We take pride in our work and that includes ensuring our installers are certified, experienced and trustworthy. We are happy to provide references upon request.

I can’t make it to your showroom during regular hours. Can you bring samples to my home?

In order to view as many options as possible, we recommend visiting our showroom and would be happy to schedule an appointment with you outside of the regular showroom hours. If you’re looking for something specific, we’d be happy to bring samples to your home to make your selection without visiting the showroom.

What is the difference between your products and products I can find at warehouse home stores?

We only offer the best quality flooring for our customers. When comparing pricing, be sure to compare apples to apples. Many flooring products sold at home stores may have the same name, but are not the exact same product. Top flooring manufacturers make special collections for home stores that include damaged, scrap or lower quality materials. This allows the home stores to charge a very low price for these products.

Can I take samples home with me? Do you charge for samples?

You can absolutely take home samples and we do not charge for this service. We’re even happy to order a larger sample shipped directly to you no charge.

That same product is advertised lower at the building materials chain store, why is your price higher?

Generally the advertised price is for in-stock materials that they purchase in large quantities. Our customers usually are trying to achieve just the right look for their home and want a larger selection. These custom orders do cost more but you achieve the look you want. In addition, when your project calls for professional installation we find our bottom line prices are competitive if not lower.

We’ve seen advertising offering “Free Installation”. Do you offer that?

Beware of “Free” offers of any kind. Some stores will often make up the difference by charging more for other things. They typically make up the difference with extra or higher charges for removal and haul away, moving furniture, and higher prices for transition products like reducers or stair nosing. Our estimates include everything to complete the job; many chain stores initially leave out necessary supplies and labor and add it to the bottom line.  There is no such thing as free materials and free labor often does not exist.

We have pets and we need something that is easy to maintain. What type of flooring should we be looking at?

There have been many innovations that can give you better performance with pets around. In carpet, new fibers have been constructed to reduce both staining and odor retention typically associated with pet accidents. We even carry carpet padding designed just for pet problems. Of course any hard surface product performs better because they can be easily cleaned. However, some products may be more scratch resistant. We’ve seen hardwood floors where larger pets have scratched the floors badly. New finishes on hardwood flooring and new products like laminate flooring and luxury vinyl offer improved performance for this situation.

Can I install hardwood on a concrete slab or in my basement?

Engineered hardwood products may be adhered both on grade and below. Their cross-grain construction of multiple layers reduces the expansion and contraction that occurs with solid wood products. However, we will need to check for moisture. Moisture problems can breakdown a glue-down installation.REPORT THIS AD

What style carpet is best for high traffic?

We recommend Berber, commercial and frieze. These styles come in multicolor that helps hide dirt and pet hair. These styles also hide footprints.

Can I use hardwood flooring in my bathroom?

We don’t recommend using wood in the bathroom, particularly solid wood products. There are many realistic wood patterns in vinyl and ceramic tile flooring that would be more suitable.

Is the quality of the carpet cushion I select important?

Yes. A good quality carpet cushion will go a long way in helping keep your carpet from crushing in heavy traffic areas. If the cushion deteriorates your carpet will flatten out and be less resilient. It will also contribute to your underfoot comfort.
